Because we believe that every child is created in the image of God (imago Dei), we equip students both to pursue--and to produce-- the good, true, and beautiful.

Classical education is both timeless and timely.
At Baltimore Classical Academy, we train students to read primary sources, to understand mathematical concepts, to write clearly, to speak persuasively, and
to develop physical skills consistent with their identity as imago Dei beings (created in the image of God).
Classical stages of learning
Grammar (K-4th)
- The Aim: Prepared with a foundational framework for a life of wisdom and knowledge
- The Scholar: Excited and eager learner
- The Approach: Storybook Latin, melodies for memorization, cheery chants and rhymes that joyfully engage the senses in the learning process
Logic (5th-8th)
- The Aim: Equipped to reason well and to recognize truth, goodness, and beauty
- The Scholar: Enjoys debate, argumentation, challenges, and making connections with data
- The Approach: Study the art of informal and formal logic, engage with visual materials, research and create presentations
Rhetoric (9th-12th)
- The Aim: Able to clearly express oneself and to present and produce truth, goodness, and beauty in meaningful ways
- The Scholar: Focused on self-expression, independence, and answers to big questions
- The Approach: Engage in thoughtful discussion and robust debate, develop and defend thesis, study formal theology and rhetoric

The story behind Baltimore Classical Academy
History
The dream of Baltimore Classical Academy began circa 2016 during a dinner conversation between two Johns Hopkins pediatricians and their spouses, each with a passion to see Baltimore families and children, from all ethnic and economic backgrounds, thrive.
That dream grew through prayer and more conversations with community leaders, teachers, parents, and church leaders from diverse ethnic and denominational backgrounds across Baltimore City.
Our founding board members met in late 2020 at a weekly online prayer gathering. After much prayer and perseverance, we began taking steps to make the dream a reality.
In 2022, our team started visiting local and national schools, learning from experts, and developing a framework of excellence from which to launch Baltimore Classical Academy. We've been inspired, humbled and blessed by the many remarkable people we've met along the way.
Our continuous prayer and aim is to joyfully provide the best spiritual and academic foundations to every student who God brings to Baltimore Classical Academy.
